The most important thing is that I can work how you need me to work. I’ve very flexible and can work around most requirements.
I come from an agency background with over 15 years experience and in that time I’ve experienced numerous working practices, methodologies and processes.
I prefer to work directly with the client to ensure clear communication of ideas and requirements, with a clear lightweight document trail so everyone knows where they stand.
For clients on a budget I can work with them to help them produce a very clear brief and present a single design concept back for review and amend. Where budget allows I can present multiple design concepts, with one chosen to be carried forward to the next stage.
Process
Project management and website development tend to follow a ‘Waterfall’ process structure as opposed to ‘Agile’ as I find this helps when working with tight budgets. Below is a sample project process:
- Client brief or Consultancy
- Project specification and estimate
- Client approval and content delivery (where applicable)
- Initial design concept/s (look and feel)
- Client review and feedback
- Design development
- Client design sign off
- Implementation (web development / print artwork)
- Alpha delivery (web functionally mostly working for review / print artwork ready for final proof check)
- Client review and feedback
- Beta delivery (website fully complete pending approval to go live / print artwork ready for delivery)
- Launch
Service costs
Service costs are given as estimated budgets calculated on an hourly basis based on the effort expected for the understood project deliverables. If the project takes less time than budgeted I’ll only invoice for that time. As a project progresses should the understanding or scope of the deliverables change (maybe owing additional design stages or change requests) and it looks like taking longer than budgeted for to complete the work then I’ll provide a breakdown showing additional effort and additional budget required for approval before continuing. For larger projects I’ll include a contingency as well as a budget just to make sure the client is comfortable with the potential spend. If a client wants to work to a fixed fee then this can be accommodated where a very clear specification and set of deliverables exists.
Agencies
I can either work remotely being self-sufficient in my home office, or can come into your studio (depending on location). I’m PC based, though am also proficient on a Mac.
